Shockwave Treatment
Procedure
The chiropractor identifies the pain region by palpation or shock wave localisation and discusses the findings with you.
A skin gel is then applied to the treatment area so that the shock waves can be introduced into the body almost painlessly and without any loss of energy.
After these preparations, shock waves are released as the shock wave applicator is moved over the pain region in a circular motion.
Duration and frequency
Each therapy session takes between 5 and 10 minutes depending on the disorder to be treated. In general, an average of 3 to 6 treatments are necessary at weekly intervals.
Private health insurers usually pay for the therapy costs since it is billed as Chiropractic.
How fast does it work?
Most patients feel a difference right after the first treatment. A significant reduction of pain is typically experienced 8-10 days following the first treatment. Some patients will not feel a difference until finishing their third treatment. The healing process is accumulative and therefore patients continue to have results weeks after ending their treatment. Because the cells are broken down, and are rebuilding (they actually are put back into the acute phase) the maximum relief is usually felt at the 12th week after their last treatment.
Success rates
After only 2 or 3 therapy sessions, over 80% of patients report painlessness or significant pain reduction.
-91% improvement for Calcific Tendinitis
-77% improvement for Tennis Elbow
-90% improvement for Plantar Faciitis
