GaitScan
What is GaitScan?
GaitScan is a state of the art computer hardware and software system that helps your health care practitioner assess and analyze your feet. This analysis combined with your practitioners’ experience and knowledge detects abnormal foot function which may be affecting your feet or other parts of your body.
Why does it produce better orthotics?
Your foot is in contact with the ground for about 0.8 of a second when walking and about 0.25 seconds when running. Imagine trying to determine normal or abnormal foot function with the naked eye in a quarter of a second? This is too difficult for even the most experienced practitioner. The GaitScan system records your timing sequences during gait as you walk or run across the pressure plate. This enables your practitioner to have a clear picture of your foot mechanics and determine whether you would benefit from wearing custom made foot orthotics.
Industry Leader
The GaitScan system featuring TOG Client Software is an innovative diagnostic tool and digital casting device that allows practitioners to analyze patient biomechanics and order custom orthotics. With 4096 sensors and a scan rate of 300Hz (frames per second), GaitScan is the industry leader in dynamic scanning capability.
State-of-the-Art Diagnostic Tool
With both diagnostic and educational capabilities, GaitScan provides a comprehensive biomechanical evaluation for each patient. In-depth, informative reports give access to over a million data points which break down deviations from optimal biomechanics and assists in effectively diagnosing and prescribing orthotic solutions.
Dynamic Scanning
The GaitScan system records timing sequences during gait and captures the relative pressure for each of ten distinct anatomical landmarks. The result is the detection of imbalances and other indicators of common lower limb pathologies.
Pressure Mapping
GaitScan gives the ability to view a patient’s plantar pressure distribution in both 2D and 3D. The synchronized mode allows for a direct right and left foot comparison and displays the centre of pressure or "gait line" of the foot throughout the gait cycle. Detailed images allow for the easy identification of high pressure areas and existing biomechanical inefficiencies.
The result?
A custom orthotic that delivers superior clinical results.
